SEND Local Offer Survey

As part of the Children and Families Act, local authorities must publish a local offer setting out information about provision that is available for children and young people in their area who have SEND from September 1st 2014.

The local offer has two key purposes:

• to provide clear, comprehensive and accessible information about the provision available
• to make provision more responsive to local needs and aspirations by directly involving children and young people with SEN, parents and carers, and service providers in its development and review

This has implications for you as a provider.  This survey has been provided so that you can communicate the support and services that you offer to young children and families. There are two main benefits to this:

• families can easily find information about services that you offer and that are most suitable and relevant to them, and know how to access them
• the information will help to prevent misunderstandings and will minimise the number of inappropriate contacts and referrals you receive

The local offer will also help you to find information about other organisations and assist you to signpost families more effectively thus adding value to your service.

Please ensure you have read the email from which you accessed this survey, including reviewing the best practice examples attached, before completing the survey. All providers will need to complete the survey in order for both the local authority and providers to meet the statutory requirements. The information you provide will be uploaded onto the Leicestershire Family Information Directory for the public to access by the end of October.
